Amanda Raffoul is a PhD candidate in the School of Public Health and Health Systems at the University of Waterloo. She has expertise in dieting, weight management behaviors, prevention of eating- and weight-related disorders, and weight bias. In her doctoral studies, Amanda is applying a complex systems lens to her exploration of the potential unintended consequences of the “war on obesity” for psychological health and well-being among young adults in Canada. Amanda volunteers with a range of community- and campus-based initiatives related to positive body image, gender equity, and weight-related advocacy.
